    Gove Airport – Face Masks

    Thank you to everyone who has continued wearing a mask while in the Gove Airport and doing your part to keep your community safe. Face masks are mandatory in domestic airports and on all domestic commercial flights. Masks must be worn when inside the airport terminal building and when on the airfield. It is the responsibility of individuals to make sure they have a mask to wear when at major NT airports and while onboard an aircraft. Individuals transiting through the Gove Airport have received an infringement of $5056 for failing to comply with Chief Health Officer Directions under section 56 of the Public and Environment Health Act 2011.     Discounted waste management fees for Industrial Estate businesses

    It’s that time of year when the Nhulunbuy community needs to clear all that hard waste from around their properties in preparation for the cyclone season. We are excited to advise that throughout October 2021, all Industrial Estate businesses are eligible for a 50% discount on waste management fees.  All businesses in the Industrial estate should have received an email and letter with details on how to claim their discount voucher. If your business has not received any information, please call 8939 2200. Town lease residents will have the opportunity to dispose of hard waste during the hard waste cyclone collection, which is free of charge and will occur in November. The Nhulunbuy Corporation will provide more information in the coming weeks.

    Interruption to Water Services & Traffic Detour

    Local contractors are undertaking vital work on the communities water infrastructure Wednesday, September 22nd & Thursday, September 23rd. This work may result in an interruption to water services between the hours of 7:30 am and 6 pm Thursday the 23rd of September. Streets that may experience water outages include:  Beagle Circuit, Whitewood Circuit, Tuckeroo Close, Acacia Close, Melaleuca Close & Lilli Pilli Close. Traffic Management will be in place with traffic to be detoured off Beagle Circuit, please use other routes to avoid any delays. We appreciate your patience while this important work is completed.

    Rescued Black Flying Fox

    The Gove Airport, unfortunately, found this little fella tangled in the barbed wire boundary fence. Luckily for us (and him), our local Wildlife Ecologist, who is fully vaccinated and trained in handling and caring of flying foxes, was visiting the airport and was able to free him.

    The Northern Territory Government, the Land Councils and Aboriginal Medical Services Associated of the NT (AMSANT), working with local organisations like Miwatj Health, Laynhapuy Health, Rirratjiŋu, Gumatj and East Arnhem Regional Council, have made plans about what to do if coronavirus comes to the region. For the Miwatj region, this plan is called the Nhulunbuy District Local Pandemic Plan.
