About PAWS - Pets and Wildlife Shelter Inc
Nhulunbuy Pets and Wildlife Shelter Inc (PAWS) is a not for profit animal Welfare association.
We are primarily dedicated to rescuing and rehoming unwanted and abandoned pets. We do provide boarding as a means of providing funding for our primary function however our space is limited and the pets for rehoming always come first. We have a part time Kennel Manager which is a paid position, this position is focused on administration, volunteer coordination and raising funds to keep us going.
We are located at the Nhulunbuy Corporation Pound compound off Arnhem Rd. Anyone wishing to visit the kennels should contact the kennel manager to make arrangements for one of the volunteers to meet them.
Volunteers are very welcome, to volunteer for the first time, people will need to become a member initially.
Membership is $36 for a single and $65 for a family or multiple pet family.
Members get the access code to the off leash area so they can use it any time.
We run a weekly dog wash on Saturdays 9am to 12. It's great for socialising for both people and their pets. The wash is $7 and credit card facilities are available. People can also purchase bulk dog wash vouchers so they don't have to pay every week.
We often have dogs and cats for rehoming.
The cost of adopting covers vaccination, tick and flea treatment, desexing, microchipping.
We also offer boarding for cats and dogs to members. Cost is $30 per day for dogs and $25 per day for cats. Discounts are available for volunteers, extended stays and owners of pets rehomed from PAWS.
Adoption Fee: $350 (includes vet treatment, desexing and vaccinations)

Meet GingerRay, a big character in a small package! GingerRay is super cuddly and loves to play. He gets along really well with children and most dogs. He has not been tried with other animals. GingerRay would ideally suite a home that regularly has someone at home who would put effort into training him. He will need to be either an inside dog or go to home with a VERY secure yard as GingerRay is a very impressive escape artisit.
