If you are planning building, plumbing or drainage work within the Nhulunbuy Township or Industrial Estate, you may need a Building Permit before work can commence. This application form allows Nhulunbuy Corporation to assess your proposed works and determine whether they comply with the National Construction Code, local planning requirements and lease conditions.
Before You Apply
Before completing this application, check whether your proposed works are exempt under Building Note 114 (BN114). Some minor structures and works may not require a Building Permit and can be lodged using the Minor Building Works Form instead. If you are unsure which approval pathway applies to your project, please contact Nhulunbuy Corporation for advice.
Nhulunbuy is located within cyclone region 'C'...
A Cyclone Management Plan is required for all building and demolition works within the Nhulunbuy Town Lease and Industrial Estate. The plan must explain how the site, materials, equipment and structures will be secured during a cyclone event before works commence.
The Application Process
- Determine whether your project requires a Building Certifier.
- Gather all required plans, certificates and supporting documents.
- Submit your completed application to Nhulunbuy Corporation.
- Review and sign any applicable Fees and Charges Notice.
- The application is assessed by Nhulunbuy Corporation and its contracted Building Certifier.
- Once approved, a Building Permit is issued and work may commence.
