There have a number of important updates made to the Nhulunbuy Corporation's Building Application process, including changes to the fees and charges, which will take effect from the 5th of August. These changes align with updated regulatory requirements.

Please see the key changes below:

1. Uncertified applications for Group 3 & 4 are no longer accepted (unless specifically granted by the Nhulunbuy Corporation). An Out of Area (OOA) Permit must now be submitted to the Consent Authority, along with the Building Application. 

2. Inspection services are now chargeable across all permit groups (1–4). This fee will be included in the cost sheet provided to applicants before a building application is assessed. 

3. Occupancy permit charges introduced. This fee will be included in the cost sheet provided to applicants before a building application is assessed. 

The updated Fee Schedule is below:

  • Performance and Headworks Bonds (POA)
  • Infrastructure Charges (POA)
  • Retrospective Applications (Double Fee)
  • Permit Variations (10% of original fee or $185 minimum)
  • Consultancy Services
