New playground at NAC (facing North-East)

In late 2022, the Nhulunbuy Corporation put to tender a construction project for the design and construction of a new playground at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre. This project would see the replacement of the aging playground previously in place at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre.

NT Sports and Playground Surfacing was awarded the contract and provided a comprehensive playground design in colours that best represent the Indigenous flag. Demolition of the existing playground commenced on the 23rd of May, with the cessation of wet weather in the Top End. Construction then began and was completed early on the 31st of May.

The new playground is close to double the area of the old playground, incorporating a far greater variety of entertaining and physically stimulating play structures.

The new and improved playground has now been opened to the public, following an opening ceremony involving students from Nhulunbuy Primary School, Dhupuma Barker Grammar School and Nhulunbuy Christian College.
