The Nhulunbuy Corporation would like to advise all dog owners in Nhulunbuy the renewal date of your annual registrations has been changed from October 31 to December 31. This decision was made to simplify the logistics of dog registration by bringing the dog registration year in line with the calendar year.
What this will mean for you and your registration:
If you hold an annual registration for your dog/s, we will be extending your current dog registration for two months free of charge to bring the end date of your current registration to December 31. As the Nhulunbuy Corporation office closes for the Christmas break, we ask that all dog owners aim to make payment for renewal by the 15th of December. This will ensure that your dog is registered over the Christmas holidays. In the event of your dog escaping your yard, having your dog registered will greatly streamline the process of returning them home and exempt you from being held liable under the By-Laws relating to dogs without an up-to-date registration after the 31st of December.
If you have a lifetime registration, this will not affect you. However, if you require a new tag, please come to the Nhulunbuy Corporation office on Westal Street to collect a new registration tag free of charge.
When can you renew your dog registration for the following year?
In past years, renewals for the next year of registration have begun from the first business day of October. As part of the transition to the December 31 renewal, we will once again be accepting renewals from the first business day of October and will continue to accept them until the closure of the Nhulunbuy Corporation’s office for the Christmas break on the 23rd of December.
