There is no cost involved for kids to take part in the ‘Rise Camp’, which is a great opportunity for young people in Gove and surrounding communities, regardless of whether they choose to play go on and NRL or not, and may help them to develop new transferable skills, assist their wellbeing, self-esteem and leadership capacity, and may also assist in their other chosen sports, as well as providing an opportunity to make some new and lasting friendships with kids from different backgrounds from Nhulunbuy and other communities.
The NRLNT Pathways Development Officer (Duncan McGillvray) who will be delivering the Rise Camp coaching workshops is a local NT Darwin born and bred man who played NRL with Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs, and in the English Super League with Wakefield Trinity before representing Scotland in the World Cup in 2008.
