Gove Airport Sunflower Oasis
Welcome to the Sunflower Room at Gove Airport, where we're all about making travel easier for everyone, especially those with hidden disabilities.
Traveling to and from remote destinations, like East Arnhem Land, can be quite the adventure. But we understand it can also be stressful, especially for those who have conditions not immediately visible, such as autism, dementia, mental health concerns, visual or hearing impairments, and more.
That's why we're here to make your journey a little easier and a lot more comfortable.
In 2022, we embarked on a 12-month trial to support travellers with hidden disabilities. Based on your invaluable feedback, we're thrilled to announce that the Sunflower Quiet Room is now a permanent feature in our departure lounge.
Your Peaceful Retreat
The Sunflower Room was created with the intent to provide travellers with hidden disabilities a sanctuary where they can relax and prepare for their journey in a peaceful environment, away from the bustling terminal.
We've extended this haven to mothers and babies, ensuring they have access to a serene, private space for settling and feeding their little ones.
The best part? The room is always open and accessible to the public during our terminal's operating hours.
We kindly ask that everyone respects the purpose of the Sunflower Room, so it remains available for those who genuinely need a safe haven within Gove Airport.
Your understanding and respect make all the difference!
Terminal Familiarisation
At Gove Airport, we're committed to making your journey as comfortable and inclusive as possible. We understand that airports can sometimes be overwhelming, especially for individuals with hidden disabilities.
That's why we're thrilled to offer terminal familiarisation visits, tailored to provide a warm and understanding atmosphere. For those who may need a bit more time to acclimate to the airport environment, our terminal familiarisation visits are the perfect opportunity. Led by friendly and compassionate staff, these visits are designed to give individuals with hidden disabilities a chance to explore our terminal at their own pace, with minimal distractions.
It's not just about getting to know the physical space; it's about building confidence and reducing anxiety, so everyone can embark on their journey with ease.
Book your Airport Familiarisation Tour with our Airport Manager, Heidi by calling 0448 863 903.
We're here to ensure that every traveller feels supported and welcome at Gove Airport, regardless of their unique needs or circumstances. Come discover our airport, your way!
