Chief Executive Officer
• Work with engaged and highly supportive Boards
• Focus on long-term strategic planning and implementation
• Enjoy a totally unique tropical lifestyle
Approximately 600 kms east of Darwin, the township of Nhulunbuy is located on the Gove Peninsula in North East Arnhem Land. It is home to nearly 3,500 and has a strong economic base built on mining and a rapidly growing tourism focus. The area is one of unique natural beauty and indigenous heritage, and widely recognised as an outdoor enthusiast’s destination point.
The Nhulunbuy Corporation is a highly successful municipal organisation that runs the township of Nhulunbuy on behalf of Rio Tinto. Operating under a Board of Directors the organisation works independently for the benefit of the community. Key to its success is operating collaboratively with Traditional Owners, Government and Corporate partners to ensure the best quality of life for people in Nhulunbuy and its long-term sustainability.
As CEO, you will report directly to the Chair of the Board and be the operational and strategic lead across all key functions including financial management, community development, strategic/corporate planning, and asset and workforce development. The emphasis will be on maintaining and developing the systems, processes and frameworks to support long term strategic planning, but you will also be responsible for ensuring overall efficiency and productivity.
A contemporary strategic thinker, your impressive senior executive track record and skills base will include a hands-on understanding of community development and engagement initiatives, financial acumen, combined with extensive asset and risk management experience. You will need the confidence and strength to develop, implement and stand by your own decisions, but also the political awareness and EI to work with multiple agendas and disparate stakeholder interests and priorities. Experience of working with indigenous groups and/or Local Government would be distinct advantages.
This is a highly challenging and rewarding opportunity to further develop your career in a setting that will see you operating at the interface between the corporate, government and community sectors. The financial rewards are highly competitive (including a generous relocation component) and for the right person, the lifestyle attractions are amazing.
