Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre
New access arrangements – change of start date
As you are all aware, the Nhulunbuy Corporation last year sought community feedback on access arrangements for the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre. This was in response to a safety assessment that was conducted on the facility by Royal Lifesaving NT.
Please note that our new access arrangements will now come into effect from Monday 7 March 2016 (one week later than we originally planned):
- Lifeguard hours will be extended to 7am-7pm 7 days a week (except for 8.30pm Monday to 2.30pm Tuesday to allow for maintenance, Christmas Day, Good Friday, New Year’s Day and special events)
- The gates will be programmed to allow entry during lifeguard hours
- Anyone who wishes to swim outside of these hours (4-7am and 7-10pm) will need to apply to the Nhulunbuy Corporation to enter into an Out of Hours Agreement
- The applicant must successfully complete an induction program (90mins) conducted by our senior pool staff
- The applicant must sign a waiver in addition to the existing pool membership indemnity
- Users aged under 14 will not be able to access the pool out of hours unless accompanied by an adult family member who has been inducted
- Users aged between 14 and 18 will need be inducted with an adult family member in order to gain out of hours access
Existing membership access arrangements will remain in place until this time.
Our new Out of Hours Access Cards will arrive this week and we will notify all inducted Out of Hours Users when they are ready to be picked up.
Our induction program will run on a weekly and then monthly basis. Sign up sheets are available at the kiosk.
