Parking and vehicles

The Nhulunbuy Corporation is authorised under the Australian Road rules regulations to carry out enforcement of parking control within Nhulunbuy and the Gove Airport. Please adhere to parking signs where applicable as infringements are issued for non-compliance.

Please note that the Town Centre carpark is privately owned and parking in this area comes at the user’s own risk.

Loading Zone Permits

The Nhulunbuy Corporation can provide parking permits to businesses within Nhulunbuy that require the use of the Loading Zone Permit Only parks in the Woolworths carpark. These are free and must be renewed annually.

If you require a permit for your business, please contact us on (08) 8939 2200.

Disabled Parking Permits

The Nhulunbuy Corporation can provide Disabled Parking Permits to those who require such assistance and are eligible.

These are free and must be renewed annually.

Abandoned vehicles

If the Nhulunbuy Corporation believes that a vehicle has been abandoned, it will place an ‘Abandoned Vehicle Notification’ sticker on the vehicle for a period of 14 days. If the owner of the vehicle does not come forward, the Corporation will report the details through to the Nhulunbuy Police to trace the registration plates. The owner will then have seven days in which to claim their vehicle. After this time, the vehicle will be removed to the Gove Peninsula Waste Management Facility for disposal. The owner of the vehicle will incur any costs associated with the vehicle’s removal.
