Garden Waste and the Blue Bins

The Nhulunbuy Corporation provides the large blue hook bins for domestic green waste which are emptied and relocated to a new location on a 4 week rotation. Where possible the green waste is wood chipped and used for the towns parks and gardens.

Garden waste is increasingly being dumped on the concrete bin pads when the bins are located at other sites . Even when the bins are there some residents just dump their waste on the ground near the bins. Other residents have used the bins for general rubbish. This has an enormous cost impact on the operation of the service and may result in the service being discontinued

We ask that:

• Green waste is only placed inside the bins and not on the concrete pads
• You store your rubbish at home until the bins are place near your home,
• You use the bins for green garden waste only
• You only put items in the bin that are of a manageable size
• You take larger items directly to the Waste Management Facility for which there is no charge
