Dog Exercise Areas

The Nhulunbuy Corporation has introduced Dog exercise areas in the town lease area of Nhulunbuy to enable Dog owners to walk their Dog’s off the lead without posing a problem to other pedestrians or traffic. This does not restrict you from walking your Dog in other areas as long as the animal is on a lead. Failure to do so could result in a fine.

Control of Dogs in exercise areas:

  1. A Dog can be off a lead whilst accompanied by a competent person who is in reasonable proximity to the Dog.
  2. A competent person is a person who is liable for the control of the Dog and is capable of controlling it.
  3. A competent person is a person who is carrying and capable of attaching a chain, cord, leash, or harness and have sufficient strength for the purpose of controlling the Dog.
